Application of su***cing technology in continuous casting equipment
Currently, almost all continuous casting rolls have been replaced with composite rolls made of su***cing alloys. As a pre-protection measure, it is no longer just a repair method. The su***ced continuous casting rolls exhibit greatly improved wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and thermal fatigue resistance. Due to thermal alternating stress, the problem of roll thermal fatigue failure is widespread. A large number of circular thermal fatigue cracks often appear along the weld bead on the roll body, and severe weld layer detachment and even roll fracture have become chronic issues affecting production.
Over 200,000 continuous casting rolls globally utilize WELDCLAD su***cing technology, and WELDCLAD is the designated supplier of su***cing processes and materials for continuous casting rolls to companies such as VAI, Danieli, SMS, Demark, and Davy. Its mature experience and technical know-how stem from WELDCLAD's unique oscillating automatic su***cing equipment and the specially developed WELDCLAD3 series of su***cing materials for continuous casting rolls. These materials exhibit excellent welding characteristics and heat treatment performance, with extremely low oxygen content in the su***ced metal. Compared to traditional submerged arc welding and open arc welding, they significantly reduce heat effects between weld beads, intergranular corrosion, inclusions, and porosity. This eliminates thermal fatigue cracks in continuous casting rolls during use, greatly extending their service life. The lifespan has reached 5 million tons of continuous casting billets, with an average wear of just 1 millimeter for every 1.5 million tons of billets produced. The nickel-based WELDCLAD900 successfully addresses the corrosion resistance and thermal fatigue issues of the foot rollers under the crystallizer and the **all rollers at the front of Section 0, increasing the lifespan of the **all rollers by 7-10 times and allowing a throughput of up to 1 million tons.
WELDCLAD2000 incorporates ultra-fine WC into its material, enhancing its performance compared to the 3 series. Its lifespan is increased by 50% compared to the original. The two-layer build-up welding material WLDC3M2H/L ensures that excellent su***ce build-up welding metal composition can be achieved with just two layers, significantly reducing build-up welding costs. Through the use of suitable materials and heat treatment processes, each section of the roller can achieve excellent performance. The roller skin of the electromagnetic stirring rod is made of **highly expensive special non-magnetic steel, and the specially crafted 316F can successfully repair the electromagnetic stirring roller through build-up welding.
