Selection of su***cing materials for rollers
The Weldclad series of welding materials is primarily utilized in steel manufacturing enterprises. Over the past few decades, the range of Weldclad products has evolved from low alloy transition materials to nickel-based alloy series.
1: Continuous casting machine;
Continuous casting machines operate in harsh working environments and require multifunctional su***cing materials. The su***ced rollers must resist high temperatures, erosion wear, chemical corrosion from chlorides and mold fluxes, mechanical heavy loads, and thermal fatigue. Moreover, all casting machines are individual, and even two machines of the same design may have different operating methods. Therefore, we need to gather as comprehensive information as possible about the casting machines to recommend the best suitable su***cing materials.
Firstly, we need to understand what the main causes of roller failure are?
Is it due to hot cracks, wear and tear, corrosion, or bending.
In addition, in order to better serve you, we also need to understand the detailed information about your casting machine:
Is the casting machine designed with integrated rollers or separate rollers?
What is the base material of the roller?
What are the dimensions of the roller, as well as the diameter and wall thickness of the roller sleeve?
● What is the effect of pre-su***cing welding on the roller?
● What is the build-up welding capability of the welder?
● Will you repair the old roller or manufacture a new one?
What is the design of the roller? Is it internally cooled, with a central bore, or with peripheral bores, and what about the so-called rotation?
● Or the barrel method?
● Is there any external cooling method, such as water cooling, air cooling, or water mist cooling?
What is the product you cast? Is it plain carbon steel or stainless steel?
This information will determine which alloy from the Weldclad series of materials is suitable.
II: Hot strip mill plant;
The use of Weldclad material can enhance the service life of various rolls in hot continuous rolling, such as descaler rolls, roller table rolls, output roller table rolls, edging rolls, pinch rolls, feed rolls, wrapper rolls, tension rolls, curling rolls, straightening rolls, backup rolls, and more. These rolls can be easily su***ced with Weldclad material.
For the series of build-up welding, such as plate pinch rollers, special materials and equipment are required. In these applications, we need to understand the following information: other larger or heavier types, such as pinch rollers, blooming rollers, and edging rollers, or high carbon series, or support rollers whose base materials are difficult to weld, in order to recommend the best materials for you.
